Description
This innovative and visually stunning 100 gram fine silver rendition of Canada’s Parliament Buildings uses new technology and production techniques to showcase one of Canada’s national icons as fine medallic art. With a weight of 100 grams (3.215 ounces) and a width of about 100 mm, this is a substantial collector piece. The design is based on the Parliament Buildings of Canada as they appeared on Canada’s classic 1927 3 cent postage stamp and on the 1929 $1 postage stamps. As investment quality .9999 fine silver, this item is HST/GST exempt.

The two sides of this piece each present a unique view of the parliament buildings. The obverse is presented with a classic proof-like finish with exceptional engraving showing the intricate contours of the stone building and its many windows, doors and roofline elements. The reverse comes to life through artistic finely detailed colour painted over engraving by renowned Canadian artist Trevor Tenant. The colour is contrasted with a brilliant silver border.

Mintage is limited to just 1,867 pieces. The collector piece is encapsulated for protection and presented in a “Magic Frame” for display. The background within the frame includes additional details from the original postage stamp, allowing the shaped images to be beautifully presented in a larger perspective. This Real Shape Iconic Canada series is issued by the Canadian Heritage Mint and includes a certificate of authenticity attesting to the mintage, weight and fineness.
