Perhaps the most elegant of all the Queen Elizabeth II tribute coins, this 2023 issue five ounce $50 fine silver coin features Her Majesty’s Royal Cypher surrounded by cameos of all four effigies that have appeared on Canadian coins since the Queen’s coronation in 1953. Ornamental flourishes include a Canadian maple leaf together with symbols of the United Kingdom. The Tudor rose represents England, the shamrock for Ireland, the thistle for Scotland and daffodil for Wales. Although the coin was released in late 2023, it features the memorial dates of the Queen’s reign 1952-2022. Mintage is limited to just 2,250 coins. HST/GST exempt.
The Design:
The four effigies can be seen equally for representing a time in the life of Queen Elizabeth as much as eras in the development of Canada.
