Description
Complete 6-coin set presented together in one custom display case

Rarity, elegance, beauty and intrinsic value combine to make this 2020 Real Shapes series one of the premier offerings ever issued by the Royal Canadian Mint. When Canada’s circulation design coins made their first transformation into premium large format Big Coins in 2015, subscriptions sold out immediately, and the series has remained a collector favourite through to the last year of issue in 2019. Now for 2020, Canada’s iconic coins become even more interesting and elusive as they take shape around their central designs in this ultra low mintage six coin Real Shapes subscription series. Each large format coin has a $50 denomination and is struck in 100 grams (over three ounces) of pure silver with a selective overlay of fine gold. Mintage is limited to just 1,200 of each coin. All six coins will come displayed in one custom six coin case. Issue price is $329.95 per coin. GST/HST exempt.

The Design:
Coin 1 – The Common Loon - $50 Fine Silver Coin (September 2019)
Robert-Ralph Carmichael’s iconic loon floats on a still lake with a small island populated by conifers in the background. The scene is portrayed within its own silhouette. This is an exceptionally beautiful large format coin with a width of about 84 mm and a height of about 35 mm.

Coin 2 – Caribou - $50 Fine Silver Coin (November 2019)
Artist Emanuel Hahn’s classic caribou portrait is featured on this large format shaped version of the design first depicted on the 1937 release of Canada’s 25-cent circulation coin.

Coin 3 – The Bluenose - $50 Fine Silver Coin (January 2020)
The Bluenose racing schooner as seen on Canada’s 10 cent circulation coin since 1937 is featured on this third coin in the series. With an unprecedented run of wins in international races, the Bluenose remains a symbol of Canadian excellence and pride.

Coin 4 – The Beaver - $50 Fine Silver Coin (March 2020)
While the beaver design by G. E. Kruger-Gray has appeared on Canada’s 5-cent circulation coin since 1937, the beaver has been a symbol of Canada since the beginning of the fur trade era of the 1600s. This real shape design features an image of a beaver standing on a rock surrounded by water.

Coin 5 – Coat of Arms - $50 Fine Silver Coin (May 2020)
This shaped coin features the Canadian Coat of Arms design by Cathy Bursey-Sabourin as it appears on Canada’s 50-cent denomination.

Coin 6 – The Polar Bear - $50 Fine Silver Coin (June 2020)
This shaped version of Canada’s $2 coin features Brent Townsend design of a polar bear standing on an ice floe, gazing out over the early summer Arctic landscape.

The obverse of each coin features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt as well as a repeating pattern of the featured coin. Weight: 100 grams (over three ounces) fine silver each coin. 600 grams, 19.3 ounces for the six coin set.
