On November 20, 2017 Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and The Duke of Edinburgh celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary. It was an impressive milestone that is all the more remarkable for a royal couple that has been in the spotlight from the moment they met. Their wedding in 1947 was Britain's first major event after the war, and people everywhere embraced the occasion. This four coin platinum set is double-dated (1947-2017) to highlight the historic “platinum anniversary” event. It contains a $300 one ounce coin, a $150 half ounce coin, $75 quarter ounce coin and a $30 tenth ounce coin. Mintage is limited to just 600 sets. GST/HST exempt.
The Design:
Canadian artist Marie-Élaine Cusson created the reverse designs which feature a maple leaf on each coin to honour the Queen of Canada. The $300 coin also features the royal monograms for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Phillip, and the number 70 to highlight their platinum wedding anniversary.
