Gliding across the glassy surface of its habitat, the loon tilts upwards in the water to stretch its wings, which offers the viewer a better glimpse of its remarkable wing feathers. The application of vibrant colour recreates the life-like qualities of the original photograph and captures the loon in fine detail, from its checkered plumage to the unique black-and-white collar beneath its jet-black head.
