This 1974 proof-like set includes all six denominations from the cent through to the commemorative dollar. The coins are specially struck for collectors using highly polished dies and slow moving coin presses. The result is that the coins have a near perfect mirror finish which is significantly different from the coins struck for circulation.
1974 includes a special issue commemorative dollar marking the 100th anniversary of the city of Winnipeg. This unusual coin features a large "100" as the main design. Inside the first "0" is a historic view of the main downtown intersection of Main and Portage streets as it appeared in 1874. In the second "0", the same intersection is seen 100 years later as it appeared in 1974.
A fifty cent coin is also included featuring the Canadian Coat-of-arms. This coin saw very limited circulation and was produced in small quantities in comparison to other denominations.
This complete high quality coin set comes presented in a custom mahogany finish display case.
