Lucky Loonie $1 Coin:
The Royal Canadian Mint has issued a Lucky Loonie since 2004, coinciding with each Olympic & Paralympic Games to enable Canadians to support and celebrate past and future Canadian accomplishments. The Royal Canadian Mint is proud to issue this circulation Lucky Loonie to celebrate a Canadian Olympic story, and to wish all of our Canadian athletes the very best of luck in London in 2012.

100th Grey Cup $1 Coin:
This coin celebrates the 100th playing of the Grey Cup® Game in 2012. It depicts the iconic trophy donated in 1909 by the Governor General of Canada, the Earl Grey. The Grey Cup® was first awarded to amateur rugby football champions, and now recognizes the best of the Canadian Football League™. It has become a cherished symbol of Canadian sport and culture.

New $1 & $2 Coins:
On April 10, 2012, the Royal Canadian Mint unveiled a new generation of one-dollar and two-dollar circulation coins. By combining several leading-edge security features along with its patented multi-ply plated steel technology, the Mint is producing more resistant, secure and long-lasting coins. The $1 coin features the common loon and the $2 coin features the polar bear.
