This $20 dollar fine silver coin with selective gold plating is the first in the Seven Sacred Teachings series. The seven sacred teachings recognized by First Nations people across Canada are love, respect, courage, honesty, wisdom, humility, and truth. The mintage is limited to 7,000, making this one of the lowest mintage $20 coins. HST/GST exempt.
The Design:
This coin depicts an image of an eagle soaring in flight while an abstract figure reaches out to embrace the eagle and its teachings of love. The eagle’s wings and tail feathers form the subtle shape of a heart while a background pattern of tobacco leaves reinforces the eagle’s teachings. On the back of the coin the effigy is gold plated. The words “Elizabeth II” and “Fine Silver 1 oz Argent Pur” are around the rim of the coin. On the left is the date “2014”, and on the right is “9999”.
First Nations People across Canada have long marveled at the eagle’s unique vision and many groups have selected it to represent “love,” one of the Seven Sacred Teachings for a full and happy life. Love is the key and the reason for life. But it’s more than that special connection between two people. It’s also the care and affection one feels for oneself. Self-love propels people towards their destiny; it inspires them to be the best they can be.
