This 2015 $20 proof fine silver colour coin issued by the Royal Canadian Mint uses colour and Swarovski crystal elements to present the Black-eyed Susan flower with brilliant dew drops. Mintage for this coin is 10,000. As a pure silver coin struck by the Royal Canadian Mint, this item is GST/HST exempt.
The Design:
The flower is viewed from above, with 12 bright yellow petals spread out from the dark brown cone. A dark green leaf is growing outward to the left of the stem. Deep veins in the leaf and the folds in the petal can be seen through the detailed engraving. Three Swarovski® crystals recreate the appearance of dew drops on the petals. The front is engraved with the word “CANADA,” the date “2015”, and the face value of “20 DOLLARS.”
Black-Eyed Susan:
Native to North America, black-eyed Susan’s are one of the most popular wildflowers grown. They blanket open fields, in golden-yellow. Members of the sunflower family, the "black eye" is named for the dark brown centers of its daisy-like flower heads. Butterflies, bees and a variety of insects are attracted to the flowers for its nectar. These plants bloom from June to October.
