This 2016 pure silver matte proof Canadian $8 coin features a traditional Chinese dragon dance, with the dragon’s long body disappearing into the distance. The coin weighs just over one quarter ounce and is one of the lowest priced pure silver coins offered by the Royal Canadian Mint.  As a pure silver coin struck by the RCM, this coin is HST/GST exempt.

The Design:

The undulating form conveys the energy of its dance, as people with poles move its head and body below. Its face appears similar to that of a horse, but it also has a beard, whiskers, fangs, horns, fish scales and is holding “the pearl of wisdom in its mouth.
