This is only the second fractional set ever to be issued with a design that is not a maple leaf. Mintage of this set is limited to 7,500. As a pure silver coin set struck by the Royal Canadian Mint, this item is GST/HST exempt.
The Design:
All five fine silver coins feature a reverse design by Canadian artist Pierre Leduc that showcases the grey wolf. The profile image emphasizes the textures on the wolf’s neck, pointed ears, and facial features. It has fixed its gaze upon something in the distance just beyond the image field. It stands with its tongue slightly protruding and its mouth open to reveal a row of teeth along its lower jaw.
The Grey Wolf:
Timber wolves are social animals found in packs, with one alpha male and one alpha female in the pack. They communicate with one another by using body language, facial expressions, scents and vocalizations such as barks, whines, growls and howling. The rules of the pack are very important to them, as instinct tells them their survival depends on it.
