The Design:
The reverse design by Canadian artist Silvia Pecota features full colour over an engraved scene that pays tribute to the hockey legacy of the Toronto Maple Leafs®. On this quiet residential street, a fast-paced game of street hockey has outlasted daylight; under the glare of the street light overhead, four young Leafs fans are dressed in their warmest winter gear, which match their
favourite team’s colours. Winter’s chill hasn’t slowed them down—each breath is visible in the cold air as two players rush to the net. With each player racing to steal away the puck, one closes in on it to try to poke it past the fourth youth guarding the net. There’s a timeless quality to this scene that could have easily taken place years ago, were it not for the brief glimpse of recent models of cars parked in the background. Above these passionate young players is the Toronto Maple Leafs iconic logo in the team’s blue and white colours.
