Chinese Lunar symbols have melded into mainstream Canadian culture, and the Royal Canadian Mint is marking the 2017 Year of the Rooster with this $15 pure silver coin containing one ounce of pure silver.  As a pure silver coin struck by the Royal Canadian Mint, this item is GST/HST exempt.

The Design:

The reverse design by Canadian artist Aries Cheung features a stylized depiction of the rooster. Detailed engraving captures the essence of the animal’s character: observant and self-confident. Walking with a confident strut, the rooster is depicted in side profile to allow a glimpse of the swirls and flourishes that recreate its feathered appearance as the sun rises up on the right side, above the Chinese character for “rooster”.
