The Design:

Celebrate the historic, once-in-a-lifetime 150th anniversary of Confederation with this one-of-a-kind treasure that pays tribute to Canada with a stunning and sophisticated design that will be the showpiece of the most upscale collections. To highlight the theme of Canadian brilliance, this coin was designed in partnership with the Canadian Intellectual Property Office, and an industrial design registered by Vancouver’s Worldwide Diamond Trademarks Ltd. was selected for the diamond on this numismatic coin.

Canadian artists Chris Reid and Rosina Li of Three Degrees Creative have reinterpreted Heritage Canada’s geometric maple leaf logo as an elegant series of diamond facets that radiate outward in an expression of inclusion and reflect the many facets that have made Canada one of the most celebrated nations in the world. Exceptionally fine detailing recreates the veining on the maple leaf while a glittering diamond adds sophisticated touch of breathtaking lustre. The design is framed by a ring of 150 diamond shapes in tribute to 150 years of Confederation.
