“We The North” has been our rallying cry – a statement of pride and Canadian identity that has helped to propel the Toronto Raptors to achieve greatness including winning the 2019 NBA Championship.  Now you can be part of a double celebration with this official Royal Canadian Mint tribute coin marking both the 2019 Raptors Championship and the 2020 25th anniversary milestone year of the franchise.

The Design:

The large format 25 cent denomination has a 35 mm diameter and a high quality reverse proof finish.  The year 2020 and the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt appear on the obverse. The coin comes presented in an attractive presentation card that doubles as a display stand.

The Toronto Raptors:

Toronto was added to the NBA roster in the 1995-1996 season—an expansion that included two Canadian teams. Since 2001-2002, when the Vancouver Grizzlies were relocated to Memphis, Tennessee, the Raptors have been Canada’s only NBA team. Despite this seemingly solitary state, they have managed to host some of the league’s biggest superstars and have broken NBA records for attendance. Their fan base spans the entire country, making them Canada’s basketball team.  

The logo appearing on this coin was introduced in December 2014, replacing the 2008 update to the team’s original logo.
