The Design:

The commemorative $2 coin serves as a tribute to all those who fought, worked and sacrificed to bring about an Allied Victory in the Second World War. The coin is double dated with the year the war ended in 1945 and the present 75th anniversary year of 2020.  The primary design created by artist Thomas Shingles first appeared on Canada’s five cent coin in 1943. Now for 2020 the design appears in this set in both in a classic engraved finish and in a selective colour version, together with a written presentation of the fascinating history of the design.
