This four coin set of .99999 fine gold coins uses holographic technology to refract light and create a dynamic and artistic rendition of Canada’s iconic maple leaves on each one of the coins. The effect is created directly on the surface of the pure gold using microscopic engraving to form the design and colours which change with the angle of the coin and the intensity of light. The set includes a one ounce $50 coin, a one quarter ounce $10 coin, a tenth ounce $5 coin and a twentieth ounce $1 coin. Mintage is limited to just 500 sets. HST/GST exempt.
The Design:
All four coins feature a full hologram image from edge to edge. The reverse design by artist Luc Normandin is a traditional portrait of four young sugar maple leaves (Acer saccharum) on a twig. When the coin is tilted from side to side, the hologram technology colourfully mimics the look of engraved relief. The holographic reverse includes the words “CANADA”, the coin’s purity and weight, and the year “2020”. The obverse features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt.
