Description

The tiger is one of the most revered animals in the wild and one of the most popular designs of the Chinese Lunar series issued by the Royal Canadian Mint.  This 2022 $15 fine silver coin takes a fun and playful perspective of the tiger. Mintage is limited to 18,888. HST/GST exempt.

The Design:

Design by Canadian artist Lily Kao, the coin features a stylized depiction of a cloth tiger, a popular form of Chinese folk art that carries a wish for prosperity. The reverse also includes the Chinese character for “Tiger”, the word “CANADA”, the year “2022” and the face value, “15 DOLLARS”. The obverse features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt.

The Tiger:

The tiger is a symbol of courage and power, and it is also intended to ward off evil. The big eyes, grinning mouth and prominent head on this coin give it an air of innocence and playfulness, while the markings on its forehead form the Chinese character for “King”.

Those born in the year of the Tiger are charming, confident and courageous – they’re natural leaders and they love adventure. Tigers are also known to pounce on their work because they like to get things done; this often leads to success, and a wish for future prosperity!

People born in the years 2022, 2010, 1998, 1986, 1974, 1962, 1950, 1938 and 1926 are all born in the year of the tiger.  This dynamic individual is determined to live life to the fullest and will win fans all around as it pursues its dreams with absolute abandon.  Life with the rebellious Tiger is never predictable.
