This 2016 $10 coin is the second in a three coin series Reflections of Wildlife, and features the otter. This series celebrates Canada’s natural beauty through depictions of a contemplative moment in the wild. The coin is just over a half ounce of fine silver, and has a mintage limited to 15,000.  As a pure silver coin struck by the Royal Canadian Mint, this item is GST/HST exempt. 

The Design:

The image by Canadian artist Maurade Baynton showcases the otter at the water`s edge. This semi-aquatic mammal has ventured beyond a fallen tree trunk, and straddles the rocks, to gaze at its reflection in the water.  A ripple in the calm water is set off by the otter’s whiskers. The design includes special finishes that enhances the reflection on the water`s surface.
